How important is it to block out the light ?When you are growing indoors, light cycles are important to the plants. The light cycle can depend on whether a plant flowers early, late or not at all. So the last thing you want to do is let any outside light into your grow area. In already flowering plants any light leakage can cause the plants to produce both male and female reproductive organs and become seeded hermaphrodites. So when you are designing and building your room. Check inside with the lights off to see if any light is getting in, then check outside the room when the lights are on to check if any light is getting out. Then block up any leakages with black & white, mylar or even duct tape. Top Tip : It only takes a little light to turn plants to seed so remember to cover any lights from extensions, radios and other electrical equipment in your room with duct tape.
