Clay pebbles are an excellent medium for pot culture and Flood and Drain systems. When planting into clay pebbles, the plants should be inserted well into the depth of the substrate to encourage rapid root growth. Plants placed onto the surface of the substrate will not easily root into the top layer.
Vermiculite.

Smart valve
The smart-valve is the heart of the autopot systems. This valve controls the supply of water to the plants in accordance to the plants needs. The smart valve is very different from the conventional ball cock type of float valve in that it allows total reduction of the fluid level before it refills.
