How to set up a dripper system

A dripper system is one of the most basic ways to auto-feed your plants.

How it works

  1. Your pump feeds from a tank into 16mm supply tube which is stoppered at one end.
  2. The supply tube runs around or near you pots, and holes are punched into it. From these holes you place the dripper nipples which plug into some dripper pipe.
  3. The dripper pipe attaches to arrow drippers, these are placed in your medium. All of the pots are placed on a tray to catch any excess water.

Plan View Of A Dripper System

We recommend coco coir fibre with this system since it provides great drainage but soil will work just as well.

Above is a basic plan view to feed 6 plants, a dripper system is very flexible however and feed anything from plant pots to coco slabs and rockwool slabs. You can feed any number of plants as long as your pump is powerful enough to keep the pressure within the system high enough.

Note: Your system will work best if all your dripper lines are the same length, this will make the pressure in the system equal to all drippers and mean all your plants get the same amount of nutrients.
